The Jenks Herb N Plant Festival is Saturday April 19 in downtown Jenks, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. This one day free event brings thousands of shoppers into the Jenks area each year. Chosen as 2010 Governor’s Conference on Tourism “Outstanding Event” winner, this festival has something for everyone.
Jenks is rolling out the red carpet in anticipation of the April 19th annual Jenks Herb and Plant festival. The fun begins at 8:00 a.m. and lasts ‘til 4:00 p.m. This year’s event is full of great promise for gardeners of all interest levels. Over a hundred vendors are lining downtown Main Street to present the best plants of all varieties including the popular herbs and flowering plants, trees, exotic cacti, vegetables and for the first time fresh produce. Decorative and practical garden objects are ready and waiting. Jenks Garden Club members have given special attention to the Children’s Area. Arts and craft projects will delight children of all ages and as a special feature, a take home planting experience supervised by the volunteers of St. James Presbyterian Church has been added. There a new winery this year as well a couple favorites from across the state realize the audience is eager to try wines created from their vineyards. Wafting aromas of spiced nuts and grilling meats and other sweet and savory delights greet shoppers to keep everybody well fed with a comfortable area nearby to rest and enjoy the people watching. The Drop and Shop is happy to watch over your purchases while you enjoy refreshments.
The Jenks Kiwanis has pancakes and sausages ready for breakfast for all the early birds at the First United Methodist church just up the street on Main.
